LOS ANGELES STREET MEDIAN TEMPLATE

The City of Los Angeles is determined to add more street trees. At the same time, residents are looking to add medians to neighborhoods to slow traffic and add greenery wherever it is possible.

The problem for residents is, hiring an architect and deciding on a design can be exceptionally time consuming and expensive.

An RFD was put out to the public to create a “template” for street medians that willing business and homeowners could turn to so that there is a “plug and play” median that has already been approved by the city.

UCLA entered and won this design competition and this template is available for any homeowner or business to install in appropriate locations.

In addition to a design, the RFD required an extensive set of construction documents. This is a single page of many that is available for use through the Los Angeles Department of Public Works.
